Our immediate medical care is aimed at preventing an unwanted pregnancy and offering initial protection against some sexually transmitted diseases.
Emergency Contraception
Our specially trained female medical examiners will discuss the need for contraception with you. This usually means:
Emergency Contraceptive pill - The ‘morning after’ pill
Intrauterine device or ‘coil’
We will discuss which option is best for you and provide you with the emergency contraceptive pill if required. You can always call us after you have left Beech House if you want to talk through your contraceptive options again or contact the your local Sexual Health clinic.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Being raped or sexually assaulted may put you at risk of sexually transmitted diseases. Our specially trained support workers can give you advice on what to do and how to access screening and treatment.
If you are at risk of HIV then we will offer you treatment (called post exposure prophylaxis) when you come and see us. You can always call us after you have left Beech House if you have any questions about your risk of sexually transmitted diseases.
